What
sets our church apart from others?
Our belief that all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is
profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect,
thoroughly furnished unto all good works. With this in mind we
endeavor to follow the Everlasting Word of God, choosing to follow
what is pleasing to God rather than man. We believe that God's words
never change as the Bible says (Isaiah 40:8; Matthew 5:18; mark
13:31; Luke 16;17), therefore, we observe the Seventh Day Sabbath as
Jesus did..
How do we view the Scriptures?
We view the scriptures
as God's unchangeable words (Isaiah 40:8). We believe that they are perfect and true
(Matthew 5:18). That
there is nothing that any man or organization can do to change them (Mark 13:31, Luke 16:17).
We believe that there are no secret interpretations of the word of God, but
rather all things should be able to be seen clearly throughout the scripture (2
Peter 1:20).
Further, we believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God, and that it was
given to men who were moved by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:21; 1 Cor 12:10,11)
What is our belief on the Divinity of Christ?
Looking solely at
the scriptures, we see Jesus Christ as the only fulfillment of the promise
of "God with us."
-
Matt. 1:23 -
Immanuel "God is with us."
-
John 1:1 - Word was
God (verse 14), Word (Jesus) made flesh.
-
John 17:5, 24 -
Jesus existed with the Father before the foundation of this world.
-
John 8:58 - Jesus
declared He was the self-existent one - the "I Am", that He
existed before Abraham.
-
Luke 5:20-24 - Jesus
forgave sins, only God can do that.
-
John 20;28 - Thomas
testified the He was both Lord and God.
-
Heb. 1:5-9 - The
Father addresses the Son as God.
-
1 Tim. 6:15, 16 - He
has immortality.
-
Rev. 1:18 - He has
the keys over the grave.
What is our view on the Law of God?
-
We believe that the Law
of God stands forever (Ps. 111:7, 8).
-
That it leads us to see our guilt and
drives us to Jesus (Rom 3:20).
-
That it is an agent in leading us to conversion
(Ps. 19:7).
-
That it gives a great reward to those to keep it (Ps. 19:11).
-
That
we are not "under the law" as a means of salvation, but rather
salvation comes totally by grace (Rom. 6:14; Eph. 2:8).
-
That we don't have the
liberty to break the law (Rom 6:15; Gal. 5:13).
-
That sin is defined as breaking
it and leads to separation from God (1 John 3:4; Isa. 59:1, 2).
-
When we are saved
by faith we desire to keep God's Law (Heb. 10:7; John 8:29).
-
Love for God leads
us to obey His Laws (John 14:15).
-
That a sign of those who love God is their
obedience to His law (John 14:21).
-
Those who keep not His commandments are liars
and the truth is not in them (1 John 2:4, 5).
-
That we are to hide His Words in
our hearts to prevent us from sinning (Ps. 119:11).
-
The new covenant is based on
the old law written in our hearts (Heb. 8:10).
-
That the saints of God and His
remnant keep His law (Rev. 12:17, 14:12).
